Default Indiana's Civil War Museum

Located in downtown Indianapolis, it is a towering monument that houses the museum beneath it. The exhibit doesn't really emphasize any battle but rather the experience of mustering in, training, weapons, battle, medical care (term is loosely used), prison camp, mustering out. Didn't have much time in there as I had a flight to catch, but admission is free so you shouldn't hesitate to drop in. Also nearby (two blocks away) is the Indiana War Memorial which houses exhibits from the Revolutionary War all the way up the conflict in Iraq. I went there first and spent two hours rushing through it. It is well worth the time and it's FREE for you cheapskates out there.

Gary; been to the museum several times now, it is quite nice and you can't beat the price. I discovered it when I was staying in a hotel w/ a view of it and curiousity got the better of me. I was unaware of the other musuem & will have to investigate next time they have me in Indy.
