KY stops You might be interested in staying in or near Harrodsburg, KY at the restored Shaker Village. Morgan made a few stops there, and then went into Danville, KY. The very cool thing about the Shaker Village is that it is restored to about the mid 1800's, when that village of Pleasant Hill was at its peak. You can stay in the restored village buildings, and the feeling is very atmospheric, especially at night. The gravel turnpike is lit with small lanterns on posts, so you feel like you are truly back in the 1860's.
Bardstown has a very nice museum dedicated to the western theater of the war. It is a former private collection, now made public. Coolest thing? They have some great artillery pieces, including a mountain howitzer, which I had never seen up close!
