The Stones River picture on the first page struck me. The dismembered cannons, sadly, are representative of the condition of a lot of battlefields in America that are overlooked and hardly cared for. But the pictures are truly amazing. Thanks for sharing.

If it will help you feel better, those dismantled cannons are placed there by the Park Service and are just a few feet from a well maintained walkway in a very pristine park. Stones River battlefield, though not nearly large enough, is one of the lucky ones. General Phillip Sheridan was once walking around very near the site of those two cannons. Yes, a most effective display, which also turned my head on a recent visit with Steven Cone. The photos as many have said previously are very welcome and a joy to view. Thanks to you all.
