Default Mississippi Sites

Brices Crossroads is a must see. Tupelo is a good place to stay. While a person is on this route, take a few days and travel the Natchez Trace on down to Natchez. I think it would take a month to see everything on the Trace. There has been less effort to save MS sites than those in other locations. The local Historical Society just finished mapping Sherman's march from Vicksburg to *******n and back, which was a trial run for his famed march to the sea. I am now sitting about 2 miles from the location in Decatur, MS, where Sherman narrowly missed being killed(what a shame) or captured. The house where he stayed survives today, but is in need of repair. Beauvoir was a very nice place to visit, but after Katrina visited, it'll be years before it is open. Where are ya'll wanting to visit, and I'll give some suggestions.

I lived in Tupelo for about 8 years , Visited Vicksburg some 25 years + years and Visited Corinth about 4 yrs ago. Would really like to a good road trip back to Vicksburg in the future as I sure so much has canges since i was there last. I dont even think the Cairo was discoverd yet the last time i was there.

regards,
Steven

OldReb, I'm planning on continuing some research in the spring trying to retrace the path of the Army of Tennessee in January 1865 from Florence, AL over to Tupelo, Reinzi, Burnsville etc and south toward *******n. I'm particularly interested for now in Burnsville, Reinzi, Cornith and other places the various Corps of the army used as a rest stop after crossing the Mississippi line from Alabama. On the Union side, I have an interest in Eastport. Any suggestions?
