There have been several of these in one form or another. In 1960, the centennial of that war when many CW books were in vogue, MacKinlay Cantor (author of Andersonville) wrote a story for Look magazine on that subject, it was so popular that Cantor expanded it into book form published in 1861 as If the South Had Won the Civil War which, I believe, became a bestseller. Harry Turtledove, of course has puplished a series of popular fiction based on that premise. Finally there are several books which have a different slant on the whole thing: How the South Finally Won the Civil War and Controls the Political Future of the U.S., by Charles Potts. After Appomattox: How the South Won the War by Stetson Kennedy How the South Won the War and Perserved the Union by Ralph Roberts Redneck Nation: How the South Really Won the Warby Michael Graham
