My 1/2 cent's worth... I just don't think Lee was into guerrilla fighting. I don't think he would have wanted to split his army up in hostile territory, and IMHO, I say this knowing that on this day 141 years ago, he did not want to even consider guerrilla warfare on territory he and his men would have known like the backs of their hands...
Interesting thought, however, but I don't think Robert E. Lee would have been the man to carry that out..
