Forrest, I would also like to add that at Fredericksburg Jackson purposely left a hole in his line and if Franklin had been more aggressive he could have created huge disaster for the rebs.

In addition, when Jackson attempted to launch a counterattack on December 13 he almost blundered into a slaughter because he underestimated the power of the Federal artillery.

Very true, I forgot to list Fredericksburg. Again Jackson had a faulty deployment and demonstrated that he did not have the abilities to correct it once trouble started. And his counter attack was pointless. Not sure what he thought he would accomplish.
