What if Beast Bulter was shot?

Would the war have shortened if Beast Butler was killed after his failure of the Bermuda Hundred campaign. I think it could have ended sooner if he had been killed before that campaign and Richmond captured, but the question is after he failed - would it have made a difference?

All depends on the man's replacement, does it not? If he had been replaced by an aggresive leader, the war may have been shortened, but he was as good as dead anyway, with Grant removing him from command, wasn't he?
