...and slavery remained an integral part of the Confederate economy well into the 20th century. THe Confederate Economy continued to slip into bankruptcy due to quality cotton from India and elsewhere replacing their cash crop during the early 1860's. THe sole cash export slowly turned to tobacco and within thirty years of this event with soils leached and a lack of crop rotation the subsequent tobacco crops failed repeatedly causing a catastrophic economic collapse.
THe economic and agricultural failures and outright collapse of several states eventually caused the Confederacy to desolve; with states solving problems their own way and more and more contempt for the corrupt Confederate government an ugly problem arose. Several states looked across the Atlantic for assistance joining the British Commonwealth, Texas w/ the assistance of Louisiana and Arkansas invaded Mexico winning a war and gaining vast territory but adding to their economic problems through further debt for armarments. Unwilling to press a second war to supress a rebellion within their own ranks the Confederacy allowed itself to be weakened further.
In the 21st century the CSA holds a tenuos place at best in the world. With a strong economic and industrial United States to the North a hateful South America to the south and no friends on the same continent a surrounded collection of former states of the CSA scrapes out survival by deficet spending and the export of an inconsistant crop of high quality tobacco. THe Confederacy has become a third world nation due to an economic collapse that has lasted a half century. As a once triumphant Jefferson Davis put it in his memoirs: "We won the war but lost the peace. The Confedracy will die of a theory"

Here goes: and the two sides sat down and finally had a reasonable discussion on ALL the issues and came up with a solution that was feasible to all concerned.

hmmm, doesn't say ONLY one sentence either does it. Well I suppose only a three paragraph diatribe isn't bad.
