Civil War History - "What if..." DiscussionsWhat if they had attacked instead of digging in...? What if he was in charge of the army instead...? Did you ever have a "What if..." question, and you weren't sure where to post it? Here's the place to ask these speculative questions!
As you are a moderator on this board, please understand that I find your post dated Saturday, July 10, 2004 - 03:18 am, a bit sharp and uncalled for. Seems like name-calling and should have given you pause.

I am of the opinion that Shane's post that I have mentioned above could be considered objectionable to Thea as it make's a personal reference in what I consider to be less than flattering or favorable to her.
If I am wrong and it was not intended in that light, I apologize to Shane, but I think we all should be very careful when we begin to consider naming fellow board members in what may be misconstrued in a less than friendly context. One should err on the side of caution in all considerations on this board. A personal opinion and if I have given offense, I apologize to this board.
Sincerely,

I find your post interesting regarding Shane's comment.
Since he said "thea rejoiced" when the south hypothetically won the the war you saw it as offensive, or at least potentially offensive.
Thea has always clearly been pro southern, I applaud her for it, how in the world she could find that statement (Thea rejoiced) as offensive is beyond my reckoning.
I wonder have we become so extremely sensitized that even a statement as obvious as this can be considered offensive? Does anyone doubt that Thea believes, as many others here do, that the south should have won the war? You sir, having been here longer then I would know even better then I that this could not be offensive to her. Yet you worry about offense.
Again, has our society become so sensitive, so feminized, so ... careful, that we must stifle ourselves?
I mean this in no way to admonish you, but I am sincerely curious.
I will agree with the part of your above post where you state that I having been here longer than you would know better that this could be offensive to Thea or not.
I base part of my actions on this long relationship and friendship with Thea. I assure you, this action of mine was not done because I felt our 'society had become of sensitive, so feminized, so...careful, that we must stifle ourselves.'
I thought only of my friend and her feelings.
Shane has explained, I have made my reasons known and have apologized that I missread his meaning. If I have upset anyone else here on the board, I offer my apologies to them.
Sincerely,
Unionblue
