Thanks for the vote of confidence, Ole.

As far as I know, I coined that one myself. I'm going to be red faced if someone comes up with the same statement from Bruce Catton or somebody.

" About the purpose of the war, I would say the war started to preserve things: preserve slavery and preserve the Union. These ends proved mutually exclusive." ....Lee Harvey Oswald, as he was being led from the Dallas Jail to Jack Ruby, who had just asked him his opinion on why the Civil War was started. Ruby evidently had a problem with Oswald's answer.

Terry:
You simply must stop using that substance!

Someone will claim to have said that before you did. I wish I had.

Yeah that actually was typed out during one of my more lucid moments.

JKeith,

Are you a teacher??? Because one key to being a good teacher is to know how to "borrow" an idea from another teacher and either warp it to make it your own or take it use it as is, but as your own. I was taught that by my professors and other teachers. I readily admit to doing it too. "Stealin' it," is my motto.

No, Bart. Nothing quite so admirable. The largest portion of my job is in marketing... slimy, slimy business it is, too.

No. No. Mr. Keith. Marketing is a noble profession, like lawyering. Sheep are to be sheared. It's the way it is, was, and has always been. Those who have advanced beyond sheep are not immume .

Amen to that Ole. There is nothing wrong with marketing at all Keith. There are good and bad people in every profession. Focus on the many positives, yourself included, and disassociate or distance yourself from the few negatives. ***Down Bart. Down from the soapbox.***

Its relative. Where teaching is a giving profession, marketing particularly at the higher levels of consumer products is often at the other end of the spectrum.

I had an employee tell me one time he was having difficulty with available choices he had to work with at times. He explained it as (and I'll try to get thru the censor), "...if you were buried up to your chin in a vat of poo-poo, and someone threw a bucket of snot at you... would you duck?".

That sums it up pretty well.
