Default River Class Ironclads

I have been painting a new batch of 15mm Civil War miniatures and have been considering building a River Class Union Ironclad (Cairo, Mound City, etc.) I bought Osprey's book hoping to get some good detail, but other than a cutaway view and a few small photos, there's not much useful for drafting some plans.

Does anyone know where I can obtain a set of plans or details for the River Class Ironclads, or perhaps a good book which includes detailed drawings?

I visited the Cairo at Vicksburg some time ago and should have taken detailed photos then, but alas I did not since this project was not in the offing at that time.

Thanks in advance.

Look at Dixie Gunworks, at one time they had a complete set of blueprints for the Cairo, $20 or so IIRC. Also the gift center at Vicksburg had both a model and blueprints available for sale when I visited... admitedly that has been several years though.

Timely and efficient as always, sir. Thanks once again.

I have checked Dixie Gunworks and they have a model, but no blueprints that I have found so far. I may have to write to the Cairo museum and see if they have a set. It has been awhile since I was there as well. I checked the store website and nothing there. Hey! Road Trip!

It might be worth checking blueprints.com or maybe it's theblueprints.com IIRC they had quite a collection not to mention a lot of off the wall stuff you might have some luck there.

Here's another site that might prove helpful; I haven't visited since 02 or so. Was a pretty extensive site then.

Ironclads and Blockade Runners

Good luck and let us know how your project turns out.
