Frankly given the time and conflict, Lyons was pretty restrained if you compare it to what transpired in Missouri after his death when the Union forces were unleashed by Fremont.

IMO Lyon was a veteran officer responding to a threat and he did it in a decisive manner.

Okay figured I'd clear this up.

In McCullochs Confederate Brigade the following were mustered into Confederate Service

Greers South Kansas-Texas Cavalry
3rd Lousiana Infantry
1st Arkansas Mounted Rifles

The other units, were Arkansas Units were State Troops placed under McCullochs command by the Gov of Arkansas.

The Troops in Pearces Brigade were all Arkansas State Troops not mustered in to Confederate Service as of yet. But had also been placed under McCullochs command.
