1st Tennessee
Fellas,
I have searched high and low, low and high for any information on Company F of the first tennessee. I have found very small bits and pieces and thats about it. I was wondering if some of you REAL southerners have any sources.
I have searched TNgenweb but found very little.
I was wondering what battles and what there background was.
I can post your request on our SCV network. There are lots of 1st TN folks here in Nashville, both history nuts and re-enactors, as if there's a difference. They might take more kindly to a yank with a name? You can send me a private message if you prefer. Sam Watkins' book Company Aytch (southern for H) would have been very near Co F. most of the time. This regiment went the gamit of the war from Shiloh through the Tennessee campaign. I'll do some looking, mostly boys from Nashville area and Williamson and surrounding counties.

Maney's 1st TN stayed with the AOT as you probably know. The woods around here are full of Maney's soldier's descendants. Steve Scone on this board may be one of them. Here's another piece on Co. F:

I see company F was at the Battle of Shiloh, but would they have been at Perryville or the Battle of Chickamauga? I'm trying to follow where they might have been.
Rock, obviously Maney's brigade was at Chickamauga as per this list. As far as the Co F, one would need more detail from a regimental history or company notes. Probably a bit of a challenge to locate. It was unusual for a Company to be mentioned in the OR. I'm not familiar with Perryville. That was early in the war. I'll check for an order of battle, however.
This is from Chickamauga OB:

Looks like a very good chance Co. F was at both places. Remember that lots of losses and reorganizations of both companies and regiments was common in the CSA.
