Default Braxton Bragg: Autistic Spectrum Disorder?

Were Bragg's personal communication problems caused by what is referred to now as "Autistic Spectrum Disorder"? This article mentions Bragg as a man who "never met an argument he didn't like.."

Its bad enough that we excuse everyones problems with an obscure medical condition, but now we have to do it to our ancesters. Lets see, Lincoln was depressed, Sherman was insane, Bragg was Autistic, Hood was a doper, anyone else?

I don't really buy these modern day diagnostics. All of these people rose to the top of their field by past performances. Each handled their positions differently, some suceeded and some failed. Some were good at certain levels and then failed at a higher level.

If Lincoln was depressed then he was the most functional depressed person of all time. Sherman, Bragg and Hood were all West Point grads. They were not victims of anything but the imagination of newspaper people with nothing else to write about.

Rick I agree completely.
Author Kenneth Noe, in his book "Perryville: Grand Havoc of Battle" tries to use psychology to explain Braggs actions and inactions.
Some ideas in Psychology are nonsense, IMO.

Default To Sick To Fight!!!!

Seems like every important Confederate general was unfit physically to serve. Or so the armchair generals alude. Maybe the Confederate founding fathers should have taken a survey to see how many fit generals they'd have by 1863.

If the U.S. had lost the war, think what the arm chair generals would do with Grant, Sherman and Sheridan?

Well, Sherman was insane, Grant was drunk all the time, and what was Sheridan's affliction?

Looks like another case of bad press.
