Yes, we're cousins, though I'm considerably better looking. My grandmother was a Weaver. The lines merge the generation before the civil war. Jeff is about 10 years younger than me, went to the same high school, but we never laid eyes on each other until last summer. We've been corresponding for about 25 years and yes, he is a very knowledgeable researcher, publisher and author of probably 50 detailed histories of various places and groups. He and wife Patti live in a restored two-story house near downtown Saltville that once belonged to the company doctor. Jeff has a degree in history from App State and spent several years with the Dept. of Energy living in Arlington where he had access to the national archives on a regular basis. He, I and 300 other folks wrote a nine volume series on the English Weaver families which he published before computers made the scene. I used to be his "spell check". I'll keep my eyes open for more on the 54th. As with the 63rd, there probably isn't a lot of documentation or physical evidence lying around.
