Eastport, Mississippi

Does anyone know this fair, but probably small, town on the western shore of the Tennessee River? It is across stream from Waterloo and Gravelly Springs, Alabama. Part of Wilson's cavalry amassed here during February and March, 1865. Is the town worth the 30 or 40 mile drive from Florence? Anyone have US Army connections to this town?

It's going to be more than forty miles from Florence. I don't know anything about Eastport, I haven't ever been there but you've got to cross the river at Florence and go south to Highway 72 and go west to Iuka, Mississippi and then north to Eastport.

Yep, that's the place. Guess I need to go take some pictures. I've been to the Alabama side, but Mapquest claims 47 miles from Gravelly Springs to Eastport via the bridge on Natchez Trace Parkway, though you can see the hill on which Eastport sits across the river from Gravelly Springs. Gravelly Springs is listed on all reports as the headquarters of General James Harrison and his 13,500 man cavalry force which left there 22 Mar 1865 on their campaign during which they captured Alabama and most of Georgia, Forrest included.
