Compare! An observation:
Washington, Jackson, and Taylor were all from Southern states, were generals that led an army in battle, and own slaves.
Fillmore, Pierce, Buchanan were all from north of Dixie and thier military experience was limited except Pierce but none ever led an army into battle, and dd not own slaves.
The Washington, Jackson, Taylor had no problem confronting rebellions head on and threaten the use of force to preserve the union.
Fillmore, Pierce, Buchanan all went out of thier ways to avoid conflict and used appeasement to preserve the union.
I know hindsight is 20/20 but there has to be a meaning or something in these behaviors of these six presidents for us to learn from. Is there some deep meaning in this comparison?
