And, by the way, your question is a non sequitur, as usual.
Blacks in the North were able to decide on their own what their jobs would be. If they didn't like their bosses or their jobs, blacks in the North were able to quit and find other jobs more to their liking. They were able to keep the money earned by their labor. Their bosses wouldn't sell their children away from them or rape their wives and daughters.
