For a Lt of the Inf or Arty $45 would be correct. He would also receive $36 to pay for his rations, $22.50 to pay his servant and if he managed to get himself posted as Regt QM or Adjutant an additional $10 or $20 if attached to the Commisary. Now if REALLY lucky he could get himself attached as an Aide to a General $20 for a Brigadier, $24 for a Major Genl or $80 for the Lt General.

Hey Adler,

Are you from Sweden?

Why don't you introduce yourself at the New Recruits Meet and Greet forum?

Welcome to CWT.

Hi,

it can be, that 3 % head to be paid had.

cavalry 53,33 Dollar = 55 Dollar normally, so
the 10 Dollar more than for Infantry and Artillery.

(Germany)

best Regards
Adler

Part of the reason for higher pay for Cav officers was the greater requirements; but it dated back to almost the creation of the US Army; the exact reasoning I cannot say.

I don't believe it to have been specifically a "danger" bonus; though it is largely true that it was the dragoons, mounted rifles & Cav on the frontier dealing w/ the Indians.

As to greater pay for certain posts; not that I have seen.
