Why would Dickens be against the North when those in the South were doing the same and showing no signs of doing different?

Dickens disliked all of the United States, whether it was northern publishers or southern slaveowners -- and that's only two of the things he disliked.

As to his reasons, I don't know and don't care to know. Is there a need for a reason beyond, "he just did"?
