More like an obsession.

Thanks for you comments, CChartreux. I have the distinct impression from your comments here and on the Grant Board that you're a female, so thanks for your comments, ma'am. If I am wrong about that, my apologies, and mutatis mutandes thanks for your comments.

Regards,
Cash

I'm a "he." My first thought is "Oh, not that old thing again," rather than, "Hmmm. I wonder if this person has been through this discussion before or has checked the archives or is on another group where this was shot down." I belong to a number of Civil War groups and I do recognize that not everyone has the same obsession I do. But more often than not, I ask myself, "How many times do we have to knock that down before it stays down?"

No. My family name is not "Cash." It's a callsign that was given to me by my erstwhile comrades in arms.

Allow me to make a highly sexist assumption based on your screenname and say thank you for your comments, ma'am. If my assumption is wrong, then my apologies and mutatis mutandes thank you for your comments.

Neil,

My sincere apologies for the temporary hijacking of your thread. I felt some things had to be explained in order for there to be peace.

Has anyone given any causes for the war that have nothing to do with "you-know-what?"

Regards,
Cash

Cash,

I'm back from Birmingham, Alabama and I just cheked my mail. You stll haven't apologized for wrongly accusing me of reading a post that I didn't; and commenting on it?

You know Cash. I really pray that you don't go legally blind like me. I know how to spell genetics but my eyesight is very bad. I can't help that. I saw your emoticon at the end of your post and realize you were kidding, but do you know how it feels to be disabled and have someone make fun of you in good taste or bad? Well, I can tell you; it doesn't feel very good. I've had those little looks and comments which I know were directed my way. I'm glad you have great eyesight and I hope you never get a degenerative disease which takes it away.
Did you know that I love to learn about the WBTS so much that I utilize one of those large magnifying glasses just to see to type and to red your typing? Well, I do. And it takes me a lot longer to type than most "normal" people but I try my best. I feel sorry for you if you get your joy by making fun of people, even in humour, who can't help being disabled. I do not wish to give up and do nothing so I joined this forum. You wish to demean me for this, also? Go ahead, Cash, I don't care.

I was offered a 1st Lt.'s Commission in the United States Army and was gong to enter service in the Medical Corps but my sudden physical disability prevented me from doing so. I guess this wouldn't matter to you because I didn't get my good break but was dealt a bad break in life; thus I never got to serve. But...I dearly desired to serve my country.
And I would have! I would have been attatched to the 101 st Airborne at Ft. Campbell, Ky.

My proof that my ancestor was not a slaveholder is in the US census. He had NO slaves. He was a middle class farmer and owned no land.. So here is your proof.

Now, wher is my apology for the false accuation & in regard to saying my ancestor was a slaveholder?
I've already forgiven you for the little 'gentic' "genetics" 'humour."
As for Jesus Christ being a slave for us all, you need to read your bible, Cash. It's there if you'll just read it like you do history books. Ask your priest.

Sincerely,
Rob Adams

Rob,

On top of everything else, do you suppose we could leave religion out of these discussions?

Dear Cedar,

By all means & politeless, yes I will.

May I kindly receive an answer to my requested apology from Cash regarding his false accusations of my responding & commenting to a post that I did not do? Also, Cash desired the facts regarding my ancestor and slaves/slaveholding. I have provided the desired facts, and I would like an apology from Cash in this matter, respectfully.

Sincerely,
Rob

I think Cash made a good case for his 'style' (several posts back), but I have a problem with the way he/(she) implies that he knows about Mr. Alabaman's family (past and future) more than Mr. Alabaman.

Now to a more serious issue:

I think it's not the flotsam from all those letters that irritates those dogs.

Dogs are very protective of their 'pack' (family).

In the normal course of events, when a person comes to the front door, that person knocks or rings a bell, and most likely, if not welcomed, they are politely turned away by the human beasts who control the den. So this is normal to the dog.

But when someone comes to the door and makes no effort to make contact with those humans, the dog intuits that there must be something wrong with this intruder who approaches, deposits mysterious objects, is never welcomed by the pack's human beasts. The dog must protect his pack by destroying those potentially dangerous foreign objects!

My dog, Molly, was the sweetest, but about an hour before the 'mail time' she would station herself at the window facing down the street from which that odd stranger would approach, and it was difficult to distract her from her vigilant 'picket'. When that mysterious/threatening being, so obvious in it's
Dress and the big batch of dangerous objects, would come in to view, she got more and more worked up!

Then when those odd objects were finally thrust though the mail slot, she would attack and destroy them, with a ferocity!

Was quite comical actually, unless you wanted to read a letter or magazine.

Rob,

Thank you for the request per religion.

I don't know why you're asking me for this. I suggest you refer to posts #164 and #170 of this thread. Frankly, I went back and read post #856 of the Slavery; The Cause thread and then post#123 of this thread and the hypocrisy of your responses seems blatant to me. Have you compared the two? Do you disagree?

My intent here is not to stir anything up. I've been the recipient of more backhanded insults here than I think are necessary. The religion request seemed obvious to prevent another diversion.

Cedar,

I hope none of my posts were deemed blatant or backhanded toward you. I've always tried to be decent to you, I thought? Just in case I didn't; here is my apology.

Sorry. I wasn't asking you the questions, technically.

Not directed at you Cedar, but to save room:
I really regret Cash thinking I would have a slave on my land, this very moment. And that he knows factually that my confederate ancestor would have bought/purchased/acquired/desired slaves? To my way of thinking, Cash is REALLY off base here in a bad way. Nobody (except Sam, Ashley) has mentioned this accusation regarding me & slaves. He is just patted on the back because he is a "great" study on the CW. This lack of consideration, I'll never understand? Unless they agree?? I gave the facts Cash wanted? I wonder if anybody else see's it my way? People ae 'squimish' when it comes to taking up for the truth against Cash, to my detriment, I guess?
I will be persistant in this, however! Just like the things said to Cash that were deemed bad, I hink he did me wrong and to let him get away with it is not good for the board. Thanks for listening.

Rob
