Ron, if you throw that dang sword on my sore toe one more time!

Rick, just so you can clear your list, a bit about myself. Passed high school a C average student, but excelled in history. Joined the Army in 1971 right out of High School on my 18th birthday. The Gods of Humor directed my life towards Army Intelligence (Stop laughing, Ron!) and I found myself a member of the Army Security Agency, the top 10% of the Army (scum always rises to the top of the pond, we told ourselves).

I spent 13 years intercepting Morse Code signals from potential enemies and a lot of our so-called allies (In God We Trust, All Others We Monitor was our unofficial motto). At one time I even monitored morse code radio traffic from the Vatican! I guess the Agency wanted me to find God's frequency and get the low-down on the Pope's instructions (hope I haven't offended anyone, but it seemed pretty silly at the time).

After 13 years of hearing Morse Code in my sleep I got to extract some revenge by teaching to "new fish" or recruits at the Morse Code School at Ft. Devens, MA for 5 years.

I also taught classes to military and civilian personnel on how to become instructors, my favorite job in the world. I love to instruct, stand in front of an audience and see the learning happen.

After numerous overseas tours to Turkey, Okinawa, Germany, Texas and other foreign countries, I retired in July of 1991 a Master Sergeant with no marketable skills. Then the Post Office was kind enough to offer me a training position and here I am. Married for 30 years, one child, a daughter, and two grandkids 5 years old, twins, one boy and one girl, who I spoil to death.

And now I pester everyone on this board (Ron is my true target, everyone else just catches the fallout) and enjoy reading yours and everyone else's posts.

Nice hearing for you (and Ron, even though I have heard it before) and getting some of your background. Looking forward for more good info from you in the future.

Sincerely,
Unionblue
