Hey Ole,
Yea bud I'm aware that Jefferson Davis was no saint himself with regards to habeus corpus etch...This may be wrong Ole,but my opinion is that Davis was good man but a poor choice for President of the Confederacy. He inherited a terrible situation himself, but I don't believe that the South was doomed to lose the war in 1861.I also think Lincoln was extremely intelligent, but not such a good man.I also think most Northern posters on the board confuse the government with the Constitution. We all know about the Gettysburg address which was a great speech.Take a look at 4 score and 7 years ago.Now you don't have to be a math major to realize the Constitution wasn't that old.Lincoln himself frequently maintained that the Union was older than the Constitution etch...
My main point is that both sides did unconstitutional things so the Constitution shouldn't be used to justify either side of the argument.
Have a good one bud,
Ashley

Then you don't understand Lincoln.

But the Declaration of Independence, which is what he was talking about, was--"dedicated to the proposition that 'All Men are Created Equal.'"

Thus far you have not substantiated your claim.
