Default Walking tours to be limited in size

Watching the local TV news this evening, I saw a short item indicating that the Gettysburg Borough Council had passed an ordinance limiting the size of walking tours in town. From now on, a walking tour may include no more than 26 people, including the guide.

I'm not sure exactly what territory is covered by this ordinance. I find it hard to believe that they would care about the size of ranger walks or other guided tours operating on the open spaces of the battlefield. Perhaps the restriction is oriented more toward the ghost tours that operate on the paved streets and sidewalks.

Dear Hoosier,

I think it makes good sense to have no more than 26 individuals per tour group.

You don't have to shout as far/much; people aren't spilling off the sidewalk into the street; you can keep a better eye on the youngsters who can't keep their mits/paws/sticky fingers off things and or misbehaving ones. Gives more opportunity to ask questions and get them answered, not having a herd to jockey with.

Just some thoughts.

Makes sense for several reasons. First, quality of walk. Who wants to be in a super big group and not hear anything? Second, quality of life. Who wants to step off the sidewalk to skirt by a group? Smaller groups are also easier for the guide to manage.
