I have some sympathy, not a lot, for anyone associated with the Gettysburg Battlefield Park, as Desjardin was. What the battle is, is not exactly what it was. I think a few grifters got some ideas sold on Gettysburg and those ideas remain "eternal." (grifters-as in a good con job)

So much is accepted, over the decades and century, that no one asks some simple questions. Such as, if the Confederates had captured Little Round Top, how would they have held it? How much artillery could the Confederates move to Little Round Top, without capturing Cemetery Ridge? The AoP artillery reserve was only a short distance away, with lots of artillery ammunition. The Confederacy was going to sit up there, just with their infantry?

I wonder how many intrepid visitors to Gettysburg ever said to a NP guide, "Hey, when are you going to show us the Gettysburg shoe factory?"
