Civil War History - Gettysburg ForumGettysburg! It's not just a National Park. It's a Civil War Battlefield. For some it's historic and storied past are almost an obsession! All related discussions are welcome here!
Dear readers of Civilwartalk. With the close work of Robert B. Condon, and 8th Vacav, among others, we are compiling a list of Union colors that were captured during the three day battle of Gettysburg, along with it, the circumstances of their capture such as the 3rd Maine, whom tore their colors to pieces rather than see them be taken. What I ask for those whom read this is any and all information that may relate to this current situation. Any links, photos, letters, or reports about Union colors taken during this campaign will be sincerely grateful in contributing to the completion of this project. Thank you
I have a book titled Brigades of Gettysburg. I have not got into it yet, but it may give clues for your quest.
It purports to be a comprehensive account of every individual brigade North and South involved in that battle.

Haven't read it yet. There's nothing about flags in the index. It just details the actions of the units and people. Some of these apparently were beat and others triumphed, but I don't know whether it gets down to the idea of 'captured flags'. I just mentioned this book as a possible clue to what you are looking for.
