Default Remembrance Day

Hi all, long time no hear from. I just wanted to say that I hope to meet any of the members here in Gettysburg this weekend. My unit, 3rd USCT along with the 6th USCT and 54th Mass will be participating in the Remembrance Day march Nov 19th. Look forward to shaking a few hands. This is my first remembrance day march so I;m really excited.

Default Remembrance Day

manofdreds,

Want to set a time and place for a get together? Is your unit doing a memorial ceremony anywhere on the battlefield?

BTW: Bring your woolies, it is getting a bit nippy here at night. Also, I have a Norris and Clement Model 63 Rifle Musket ID'd to W.W. Lewis, 39th USCT that you might want to see. It was at the Crater before Pvt. Lewis transfered to the navy.

Anybody else attending?

TomH

We'll be there early. we have a wreath laying ceremony at 930AM at Lincolns cemetary and we'll be there all day. I'm actually thinking about staying over a friends home who lives in Carroll Valley. O'Rourke's sounds like a winner to me.

I'm going to be kind of busy on Saturday, so I doubt I'll make it to Gettysburg that day.

I am planning to be there on Friday night, though I can't say it's for any Civil War-related activities. My alma mater is playing in a basketball tournament at Gettysburg College.

If you happen to be in the area of Hen Bream Gymnasium Friday around 6 PM, stop in. I'll be the guy wearing a white hat with "RPI" on the front.

Well....it was a fantastic day, despite the temps. I especially liked the luminaria. I was somewhat shocked to find that, when the names were read by state, Sumner Paine of the 20th MA, descendant of Thomas Paine did NOT go home to be buried with his kin in MA, but is buried in the cemetery. Alot of his comrades in the 20th MA are here, not Col. Paul Revere though. One would think that Sumner's parents would have had him buried in his home state...

the parade was very nice, the luminaria was very stirring......only wish Lincoln could've made his trip a few months earlier.....hence warmer temps.
