General Julian Ewell.

I was doing some research a few years back on an incident which occurred in Vietnam in 1968 and recall that the commander of the US 9th Division (based in the Mekong Delta area) was Lt.Gen.Julian Ewell, who had jumped into Normandy on D Day in 1944 and was later at Bastogne.

Does anyone know if this Gen.Ewell is a descendant of Gettysburg Gen.Ewell please?

Good question. I'm afraid I do not have a ready answer. All I really can say is that Jullian was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the son of an Army Officer. He spoke with what has been described both as a slow drawl and a mountain twang.
Richard died in 1872 and is buried in Nashville, Tennessee.

Yes, he is mentioned in a divisional biography and I believe he is mentioned prominantly in the 101st Museum...

What the exact relation was I have no idea.

I belive Richard is buried in the Old Nashville Cemetery Not to far
from Fort Negly.

I know he lived in Spring Hill, Tennessee after the War. And That house is still standing.
