Having just spent 5 days at Gettysburg, I cast my vote for a bicycle tour. Go slow and enjoy it. Get the 3 part map set by Dr. Thomas Desjardin (it's the latest & greatest) for $15. Go in the summer or early August. It's a bit more expensive, but you get the benefit of the Ranger talks and if you get a good ranger, he'll talk for 2-3 hours instead of one.

BTW, a lot of trees obstruct the field of view so don't be disappointed when you get there and can't see the town from Culp's Hill or Cemetery Hill from some houses in Gettysburg.
