Did you have cigarette cards in the US? They were popular over here until some do-gooder realised they made smoking more popular with kids. They usually featured sports stars, cars, motorbikes or ships. Like the Civil War cards, an old complete set is worth a lot of money.

Cigarrette movie star cards were pre- 1940's in the States I think. I know they were and are still popular worldwide but I think we stopped making them prior to the Second World War. I know it's easier to find foreign cards than American ones!
