Know I have a photo of the equestrian stature at Columbia, SC. It appears to be lost in various cds and files and disorganization. Will look for it some more tonight. Meanwhile, I'll apologize for promising to post it and failing to even find it.

Some people, with little military knowledge, are experts on where the monuments are located on the battlefield. Why there'd be an end to an entire cottage industry. Taking pictures and locating battlefield monuments.

Without monuments, some folks would lose a hobby.

I often thought in recent years, if I became independently wealthy, I'd buy a small plot in Gettysburg and erect a statue of a Confederate soldier leaning on a rifle, with an engraved comment.

"Whose the grifter who convinced these folks, that there was any high water in Gettysburg" ?

Love the plan...though I don't know how well it would go over with some.

I hope you all don't think I'm hi-jackin' this thread. I'm sorry. I got on this quest and ......

Why don't you parce these equestrian statues out johann-steele. Make this its own thread - Civil War Equestrian Statues.

I'll start it. Will you move the posts to save me all that trouble of re-entering the links?
