Naw, I don't think it's sad. There may have been a Civil War class offered at my college, but I was doing European history then. IMHO, the great advantage to learning on your own is you don't have to believe one instructor or one book.

I was a stickler even in my youth... accused the instructor of my history class for using a slanted textbook after I read a line stating that "Hitler forced Czechoslovakia to sign its own death warrant in cold blood." Not only slanted, I said, but cliche ridden!!
