Default A Lincoln incident.

Hello, I'm new here.

I've been reading Shelby Foote's Civil War Narrative, and I recall in one part he describes Lincoln taking his son to a place where they could look across a river or something and see Confederate soldiers.

I don't have the book with that scene in it with me, so I was wondering if anyone knew when that happened. I think it was around the time of the Battle of Chancellorsville, but I'm not sure.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

That was from Vol. 2 "Fredericksburg to *******n" pages 236-237. April 1863, from Stafford Heigths across the Rappahannock Abe and Tad saw some rebs guarding at Fredericksburg. A reb officer spied Lincoln through his binoculars and then "struck an attitude of dignity, then removed his wide brimmed hat, made a low, formal bow, and retired."

Hey, Rocket, why don't you go down the New Recruits Meet & Greet Area (at the bottom of the main message board page) and introduce yourself!

Welcome!
