Now you've done it, Bart! There must be lebenty-leben great sites and twices as many pretty darn good ones. If you've gotten back to the home page on this site, you'll find a wealth of material. civilwarhome is used a lot.
You'll get many recommendations. Start a notebook and record them. And record all the sites linked in all the posts. It's out there.

I second civilwarhome.com ... scroll down to the bottom of the main page and click on "Index of Civil War Information Available on the Internet." My hospital steward web page is included in this index!
Just wanted to let the ACW techies in the group know that I have posted a new Civil War Projectiles forum at www.cwpforums.com/forum. Already listed in the membership ranks are some of the country's top experts in the various fields of projectile collecting and more are joining daily. It is a place to talk relics, get a relic identified and view some unusual projectiles and cartridges in the numerous private collections across the country.
The forum is the first part of a new site in development and will contain a bookstore, a glossary of terms (in an attempt to standardize our terminology), a brief history of the development of the ammunition used in the ACW and articles submitted by some of the top people in the field.
Come join us in a quick bullet-speak session.

And I third it. Shotgun (Dick Weeks) has done a spectacular job in revitalizing this site, after the University turned it over to him. The last post I've seen on this site indicates that the number of links has, or will before long, reach 10,000. I have found a couple of 404's in my use of the site recently, but, this is becoming an exception, instead of the rule, as it was before Shotgun took the site.

The main site for the new projectiles forum is up and running at www.civilwarprojectiles.com. Our first article is by Dean Thomas, concerning the Sharps multi-ring cartridges and bullets and we are pleased to add John D. Bartleson, Jr. ("Civil War Explosive Ordnance 1861-1865") to our list of artillery experts, joining Jack Melton ("Guide to Civil War Artillery Projectiles", "Introduction to Field Artillery Ordnance 1861-1865") and Peter George ("Field Artillery Projectiles of the American Civil War").
I don't know if I should share this with a 6th grader, but I'm sure you've seen it before since you're into the Civil War. Now, there's nothing dirty or verboten (forbidden) at this link (website is family oriented and they won't allow it), but you will learn about smuggling alcohol into camp, feeding dog to your officers, early medicine (that'll probably kill you) and other useless things from the blackpowder era that are funny.
