Take a week and start driving... Shiloh & Chicamaugua are must sees and IMHO far superior to Gettysburg. The museum at Chickamaugua is one of the best ouit there. Vicksburg is also a good stop. All three are well done w/ plenty of markers and w/in striking distance of a half dozen others. Chattanooga & Murfreesboro are close and Vicksburg is only a couple hours down the road from Shiloh and the drive around both major battlefields is spectacular.
I admit to being a bit biased in my interest in western theatre battlefields... but having seen the big ones out East I just don't think they're as well done as the ones I've mentioned. I think Shiloh might possibly be the best because it hasn't been commercialized at all... well not in 92 the last time I was there anyway.
Good Luck and welcome aboard.

Steve, thank you for an impressive list of places to visit. My aspirations are more modest and I hope to hit the big battlefields. Do want to go to Knoxville and see the Bleak House. Gen. Sanders (Union & no relation to the chicken dude) was shot from there.
Shane,
I took a friend from the UK to Shiloh last spring. It is still not commercialized. I have also taken her to Lookout Mountain and Chickamauga. She loved them all. Although at Shiloh she was seriously disturbed by the Bloody Pond. We would have gone to more but the weather was atrocious. If you ever go to Shiloh be sure to visit the Tennessee River Museum. Quite a nice little museum.
Also worth seeing in Tennessee is Donelson. I liked Stones River too but not been there in a coon’s age.
I am like Shane in regards to preference to the Western Theater. One benefit to Tennessee is everything is pretty close to an interstate. But the Natchez Trace is the best path to Shiloh.
Your most welcome Gary. I live just east Of Nashville and as you can see been doing some Homework.. Some of the Houses you are to vist while others arnt because they are still being lived in. I have havent made it To Knoxville yet but plan on it soon. I friend of mine lives north east of there. And knows the area pretty good..

This month I visited Chickamauga, Lookout Mountain, Kennesaw Mtn, Cobbs Farm. One of the best sites though is the Georgia State Park site at Pickett's Mill. Very undeveloped and an excellent walking trail. It's simply one of the best preserved battlefields I've been too. I wish I had more time (it was close to 3:30 when I arrived) to stand around and talk with the rangers there.
I been to Kennesaw and Kolbs farm got there after the museums had closed so all i got to do was look around on foot a bit. And when I got to Picketts Mill it was closed and almost dark so i dent even get to look around so maybe next road trip I take I can. And I have a place to stay a cousin of mine moved to kennesaw a few months back..
