I thought the irony was great.

*A Chicago Tribune article of 2008 denouncing the Confederate flag as an "American swastika"

*A Chicago Tribune article of 1861 expressing Nazi-like sentiments of genocide. Who knows...maybe this is where Hitler got his idea for Liebesraum

The Nazi who? jab (at the Tribune) is very appropriate

The CBF and other confederate memorabilia are repulsive to a large part of our society just like the swastika is and you Old Southern Dogs must understand.

Think of this Old Miss University(Rebels) drop most if not all their confederate paraphernalia but the Flags had to go. If this is is not a wake up called to you Old Southern Dogs then what will. If a school who's mascot was a "confederate" but now they dropped all things confederate because if was repulsive to to many people.

I wish I could say Old Miss. did it for the right reason but in truth the confederate stuff hurt sports recruiting so it had to go.

I suspect yankee paid out of state tuition buying warm weather in Mississippi at a fine institution had much to do with the deletion of most of what you describe. Follow the money to find the cause. One of our great nation's most unfortunate maladies is political correctness. Whatever happened to the truth as it relates to history? I further have a notion that collegiate athletics, once referred to as sports, is no longer that. About the only place that practices collegiate sports is Harvard. They aren't in the league with Mississippi by any stretch of the imagination. More power to 'em.

One of our great nation's most unfortunate maladies is political correctness. Whatever happened to the truth as it relates to history?

Confederate Paraphernalia and their beautiful flags did not fall victim to political correctness. Political correctness did raise its ugly head until the White Supremacist, Klan and other associated groups hi-jack confederate symbols and displayed them next to Nazis symbols.

What kill the argument that confederate symbols are about heritage were these hate groups hi-jacking the confederate flags and symbols so political correctness it just a reaction to these hate groups behaviors. Truth in history becomes a victim as well.

Just think I have never seen hate group gathering on TV where the confederate flags and swastikas were not display for all to see. It would be nice if they(Hate groups) could have created their flags and symbols of their own but they are to close minded for that so they stole them.

They also use the United States flag and crosses.

Battalion,

Yes, they did.

Yet, why do you think the majority of Americans have come to associate repression and slavery with the Confederate Battle Flag and not the United States flag or the cross?
