So, what did you want to know?
Fort C.F. Smith, near Ft. Smith, Montana, the Hayfield Fight site, between the Army at the fort and primarily Cheyenne Indians. The fight took place in early August, 1867, only a day away from the fight at the Wagon Box corral in Wyoming.
The single-shot Springfield/Allins were more than enough to keep the Indians at bay, because Powell had concentrated his men in a wagon corral under tight fire control. Also in August 1867, in a hayfield corral near Fort C.F. Smith, a small detachment of soldiers with the same weapons successfully fought those Indians with similar results--the Hayfield Fight.
