I want a three month regiment that did garrison duty. The road to military glory is covered with blood. Being shot at, shelled and dismembered is not my idea of fun. BTW, after I muster out a self-proclaimed hero with all my limbs still attached, I'll write my own version of "How Pvt. George Peck Put Down the Rebellion."

OK, if I had to tag along like a reporter, I'd tag along with Cleburne or Forrest

7th Alabama Cavalry, Company A.

That's where my g-g-grandfather served. They were in South Alabama, North Florida, then with Forrest in Mississippi, Tennessee and finally back in Alabama near the end of it all.

It would be the 8th Va. Cav. with my gg grandfather and uncles. I would bring some hotdogs with me to Chambersburg.

The 1st Minnesota.... They saw a lot of action in the east. Of course, I probably wouldn't have survived the Gettysburg ordeal on the 3rd day there, but what the hey.

Well, I've never been to Savannah, so being with Sherman's headquarters wouldn't be too bad.

I guess that if I had to choose, though, I would go with the 15th NY Engineers, after my g-g-grandfather joined up so that I could see what part he played in the war.

Or,I would join up with Clara Barton and help her with nursing the soldiers.
