These are links to the "Rebel Yell".

If you listen to the recordings, remember these are very old men (Mr. Alexander was 90 at the time) trying to duplicate, in the happy environment of a soldiers' reunion, something they had screamed in the heat of battle while in their youth.

Why thank you Thea. Next time I hear either, I'll know I'm suppose to "Run Away! Run Away!" - Monty Python & the Holy Grail

Interesting is that while the two are similar, they are not identical. Guess I'll have to find a "fool" moon to practice under.

Wicked that thanks for the sites Thea, I often have trouble explaining it to people (especially my girlfriend), and my impression is always not quite right, but I do come close when my friends and I charge a position in paint ball, we all give a good rebel yell and it does startle people.

I'm glad you guys are enjoying it. Now that I have this link whenever I get frustrated on these boards, I'm going to hear that 90 year old man giving a good ol' Rebel Yell! It will boost my morale considerably!

It is amazing listening to that and thinking that these men are now gone and look where their voices have landed. What modern technology can do for us.

Thanks for sharing,
Jenna

Jenna,
You like technology bringing a glimpse of the past? You might like this. The Confederate General Wheeler. Who at this time was a General for the US during the Spanish American War. Some Great old films here. Many from the Spanish American War. Lots of them are Thomas Edison's films.

Ok. I put a link in but it failed. Yet to see it just go to American Memory and do a search on General Wheeler. The second 'hit' will be early films.
