Martin,

The site you have found is an old familiar friend of mine and I have used it many times in the past. Glad you found it and reminded me of it once again. I will enjoy revisiting the site and encourage others of this board to do so.

YMOS,
Unionblue

I seem to remember that there is a thread for photography but for the life of me, I can't find it this a.m. If one of you moderators wants to move this to the proper location, please feel free.

I saw this on my genealogy board and thought it might be of interest to some here.

"Elson's Civil War History" which includes "The Civil War Through
the Camera" was published in 1912. I've transcribed the text of the
entire chapter on the Battle of Seven Pines/Fair Oaks (titled "Fair
Oaks, In Sight of Richmond") and, also, added all of the photographs
from the chapter.
Those of you who had ancestors in this battle may be quite moved
by the descriptions, which are very vivid. Most of the photos were
new to me (and I thought I'd found all of the Seven Pines
photographs!).
I will leave it to those who know more about such things than I, to
determine the accuracy of Prof. Elson's work, but it was dramatically
told and is absorbing reading.
