As a Pastor I guess I should weigh in on the theology. Personally, I think that it is a great political/patriotic song. However, when it comes to church use, it really doesn't fit into our context here in Canada since we are not a republic. In my mind, according to the origional articel that started this thread, some of the theology is off especially the comment about human armies finishing the work of Christ. In my mind there is nothing man can add to or detract from Christs work on the cross. It is already finished! If you are pro-Union it is simply a patriotic /political song. As far a christian doctrine, in my mind it is somewhat of a flop.
Have a great day!
