If Ole eats many chitlins, he'll find his own relief.

And now it occurs to me that Banks doesn't fit in the "63" requirement. Guess I'll have to go with Howard for the worst booboo during that year -- only because Sickles' egregious action did disrupt Lee's plan.

Larry: I swore I wouldn't eat chitlins for the rest of the year. That I've never eaten one and can't imagine a scenario wherein I might be persuaded to try just one, doesn't detract from the solemnity of my oath.

Default "I would have fired Sickles ASAP"

Historians ignore that Sickles was fired. He never returned to a command in the Army of the Potomac, although he continued to serve in the army. Meade would never take him back.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/chitlins

chit·ter·lings(used with a singular or plural verb) the small intestine of swine, esp. when prepared as food.
[Origin: 1250–1300; ME cheterling; akin to G Kutteln in same sense]

pl.n. The small intestines of pigs, especially when cooked and eaten as food.

Here again I'm showing my ignorance. Grits I know, and like. Chitlins I had no clue, and from the definition of them I'm not sure I want more than this clue. I do imagine that if they're cooked correctly by an accomplished southern cook I could probably get some down.

Yep, you could get 'em down. Could you hold 'em? I doubt it. The odor is slighty worse than the taste.

Gents, don't forget to vote for Braxton Bragg. He deserves it.

Well Bragg might deserve worst army commander of '63 and some would nominate him for the worst of the war, but he never commanded a corps. June 62 he was one of the few to recieve full general commands.
