Thanks scribe. You're right.

Forgot about the M-36 Jackson and it is one handsome vehicle. Based on the 76mm M-10 Wolverine, its 90mm gun had enough punch to take on the Germans with confidence. We've got one of these in Woodside, CA in the private tank museum.

A favorite tactic of the tank destroyers was to send out recce jeeps to spot the German armor. They then guided the tank destroyers into a position of advantage where they could snipe at the Germans. Another tactic was to wait by a bend in the road with its front facing the escape route and the turret in reverse. As soon as Jerry appeared, blam! It was hit and run and when they ran, they scooted off to another site where an even larger ambush was prepared. I don't know if our tank destroyer crews knew it, but that's straight out of Indian fighting tactics. Check out my article, "Pontiac's Rebellion and Bushy Run" in Muzzle Blasts, August 2008.

M-36 and M-36B Jackson Tank Destroyers. They were also called Patton's Canopener, its 90mm gun was effective on the German armor. M-36b was on a M-4 Sherman chassis and was used as a MBT by a number of armored units.

Hi there I have just asked my husband who is a keen military model maker and he doesn't know of any tanks or machines with that name.
If anyone does findout he would love to know what it is and if there are any pictures if it so he could build it.

Nicola
