Default FORTRESS MONROE - End of an era...

A public service announcement...

If any of you wants to see Fortress Monroe, in particularly the Casemate Museum, you better do it before 2011.

From some of those who work there: They are being BRACK-ed, whatever that is... and the exhibits as well as all the army stuff is going to disappear...

ALL OF IT IS SLATED TO DISAPPEAR PERMANENTLY.

This is insider information - don't know how reliable, but they say that they are NOT talking about it openly...

Could be a rumour and nothing more...

But if you want to see it in its present form, no time like the present...

Am going to Richmond tomorrow, and will visit the MOC one last time before the end...

The Diaspora!

I've been there. I hope it's given to the National Park Service along with the budget to interpret and preserve it.

The people I spoke with said that was not going to happen. I specifically asked about that when they
told me of their plight.

I, too, thought the NPS would be the logical choice, seeing as how they already have Sumter and Moultrie...
