Friend Timewalker,

Already done, and back in the saddle in front of the ol' computer screen.

See you on the forum,
Unionblue

Taking the car and intend to take my/our time driving up from Columbus, Ohio, to the Canadian side of the falls. Already have hotel reservations with a view of the falls from our room. Should be pretty nice.

This is our second trip to the falls and we look forward to seeing a bit more of the local sites as well as the falls.

See you all when I get back.

Sincerely,

On the Canadian side usually stay in Clifton Hills, at the Comfort Inn. There's a really nice restaurant across from "Circus of the Sun" that we eat at, overlooking the river...

That Tim Horton's is the only decent one of those places to eat in all of Ontario, from Niagara Falls to Tober Moray...

The other "Timmy's", as the locals call them, don't even have soup!

But Dave Thomas and Tim Horton conspired years ago to take over Ontario, and so the only chain places to eat, outside of Niagara Falls, and along the Queen's Highway North, are Wendy's and Tim Horton's...

The history Channel did a piece on that fact a while back, to which I was tapping my foot!

We went to an American Civil War Reenactment in Milton, near Toronto, along the Queen's way, at a great museum called Country Heritage Park. Some really great period wagons and tractors housed there... These guys divide their time between American Civil War and War of 1812.

I got so sick of Homestyle Chicken sandwiches and
doughnuts!

Save your Loonies and Twoonies! The Canadians will probably go Euro before Long. I still have my 10 Reichsmark Bill, from Munich Germany, with Anton Leeuwenok on the face of it, from 1978.... as well as all my shekels from Isreal, when we went there in 1995, and stayed at the Mt Scopus Hyatt Regency, with Pat Boone's group...

We were staying on the Sea of Galiliee, near the Mount of the Beatitudes, when they assassinated Itsaak Rabin, and on November 4, we went into Jerusalem...

Enjoy your trip! The weather is getting brisk and leaves are starting to turn up here. Should make for some pretty photos.

Welcome back Neil. Ohio has a lot of War of 1812 sites. I visited Fort Meigs on the Maumee and even had a very short article published about a sharpshooting incident there. Joe Bilby cited it in his book, The Guns at Gettysburg. You can check it out by goggling, "The Longest Shot Ever."

BTW, a bunch of us tried to visit the Seagrams distillery and the guard, citing company policy, would not let us in. We plead that we came all the way from California to see the distillery of our favorite booze (we lied, no one us drink). Anyhow, he couldn't budge. I announced a solution and said we could switch booze, see Jack Daniels down in Tennessee since they always welcome guests.

Lazmataz,

Had a wonderful time, spent two days at the falls, visited the tunnels in the back of the Canadian Falls and also took the Maids of the Mists boat ride.

We also visited Ft. George, Niagra-on-the-Lake, and the whirlpool.

Then we spent most of the time driving back down through Ohio through Amish country.

Great to be back, but had a wonderful, relaxing time.

Sincerely,
Unionblue
