Default How About a Naval-Marine Forum

Here's a thought. A Naval-Marine forum would be much more specific to interests in those areas than Eastern and Western Theaters.

What's your thought?

Dear RoadDog;

Personally speaking; I think it would be up to the list owners.

And, I will add--that not all naval/Marine engagements were on the East Coast. Some were in the Gulf and overseas.

Should a Marine/Naval Forum be created--I will support it as a member and not in the capacity of moderator; as it again--is my opinion; that the List Owners of Civil War Talk should be petitioned directly, as this is their site.

Just some thoughts.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
M. E. Wolf

Perhaps a separate blue water Naval-Marine forum, but the riverine campaigns cannot be separated from the land campaigns and should stay in the Western Theater,

Where you put New Orleans and Mobile is problematic.

BTW, the expert on the Confederate Marine is Dave Sullivan, late USMC, who also wrote a book on the Confederate Marines. I just shared with him another account of their capture at Saylor's Creek (April 6, 1865). Dave is the editor of Warship International (International Naval Research Organization) and The Military Collector and Historian (The Company of Military Historians). Both are worthy organizations that promotes their respective field of study. Consider 'gwining and rub elbows with authors, professors, curators, museum directors and the experts in the field.

As to swabbies, civilwartalk's link suggests a way.

Personally, I find the inland naval actions, and those opening ports such as NewOrleans, and other gulf and south Atlantic ports, more interesting than those on the high seas.

I'm with SamGrant in that I find brown water navy stuff more interesting than blue water navy.
