It Was a Real Mud March Tenting Tonight on the Old Quagmire.
I'm not sure about yesterday, but Saturday's Civil War encampment at the Lehman Mansion in Lake Villa, Illinois, was closed to the public because of all the rain falling for a second straight day. Considering it continued to rain through Sunday, I'd have to believe Sunday was canceled as well.
I saw a group of Confederates breaking camp and putting some waterlogged rugs in a van and a group of Union soldiers pushing a cannon through the "mud and blood and beer." Then, Abe left in an Explorer. You'd think he'd be in a Lincoln.
Steps by the sutlers resulted in shoes getting sucked into the quag. A food vendor was eating an ear of corn. I remarked that he was eating his profits and he said it was his last one.
Better luck next year.
