Default Baseball - 100 years - Chicago Cubs

Yes, 100 years. The last World Series championship was in 1918.

In 2004, Sports Illustated told us that the Cubs would win that honor, (but four years too early?).

Presumably, the only reason they did not triumph in 2003 was because of Mr. Steven Bartman. (to this day, Bartman remains reclusive http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Bartman
and wouldn't you?

Nevertheless, let us reflect. On August 23, 1969, with the Cubs having a 5 and 1/2 game lead, manager Leo Durocher said "The Mets can't do a thing as long as we win,". The Cubs finished 8 games behind the Mets.

What say you? Is this the year?

I detest the Cubs and their chattering class North Side fans and the drunken frat boys that overrun Wrigley and it's neighborhood.

Blaming Bartman is typical of hysterical Cub fans, they were gonna lose that game regardless. And the clueless Bartman is himself so typical a Cub fan. But he can have free lunch on the South Side the rest of his life, I'm surprised he hasn't moved to Bridgeport or Mt. Greenwood.

I lived in Chicago 57 years and went to Wrigley twice in my life; once when I got free tickets and another time because I wanted to see Mike Schmidt play before he retired.

No way Alou catches that ball even without the interference. He admitted that himself, but not till much later. Oh, and how many of the eight runs that the Cubs gave up in that inning occurred on that play? How many of the runs reached base on that play? Didn't the Cubs still have a game 7 that they could have won to go on to the world series?

Default Still in First

Yet, I remember 1969. As per the Sox, I remember 1967 and 1983 as well as what might have happened in 1994.

Sports Illustrated wasn't wrong about Hell freezing over in 2004.
