Default Flag Flap In Tampa

Huge Confederate Flag to Fly Over Tampa

The i's are dotted, t's are crossed and a 139-foot flagpole is ready to fly the Stars and Bars over one of the busiest highway interchanges in Florida.
The Sons of Confederate Veterans in Tampa plan soon to raise what they claim is the world's largest Confederate flag on a private triangle of land tucked near where Interstates 75 and 4 meet. The flag measures 50 feet by 30 feet.

John Adams, commander of the organization's Florida division, has spearheaded the flag project, which includes plans for an accompanying memorial park. And he wants to make sure that the only objections the group faces are based on opinion, not the law....

Cool! This is bigger than the one just north of Montgomery?

Default I Was Wondering

When it would hit the fire.

The SCV raised in on Davis' birthday, June 3rd, and already there's lots of dissension from the NAACP and some of the Hillsborough county commissioners.

At this point, the assisstant county attorney says all the permits are in order so the SCV would have to agree to take it down.

Should be an interesting story to follow.

One point, here, Brother Battalion. When I pulled up the link, there was no picture of said flag where said picture was supposed to be...

They say it is the STARS AND BARS, but below, mention is made of the SOUTHERN CROSS battle flag...

The hated one...

So, if they are flying one of the numerous incarnations of the First National Confederate Flag, the STARS AND BARS,
you won't hear a sound from anyone...

If the boys in blue (on both sides), at FIRST MANASSAS,
could not tell the STARS AND BARS from the STARS AND STRIPES, (and thus was created Beauregard's nod to the Scottish flag of Independence, the St. Andrews SOUTHERN CROSS), then neither will these purposely 'dumbed-down' Americans who have been taught nothing, and who will be the ones who drive by it.

The ones Jay Leno shows to be absolutely cluless about anything, now or then... when he walks the streets with his microphone to ridicule American stupidity...

But, if the flag is the SOUTHERN CROSS BATTLE FLAG, why is the writer calling it a STARS AND BARS?

Which flag are we talking about here?

Beowulf

PS I think your flag is cool. They ought to fly more of those!

It is on private property so this guy has a free speech guarantee via the First Amendment. That said if that flag comes down and causes a car accident the property owner will be held liable.

So native Floridians are dumber than native Virginians?

Freddy is quite right. The flag ought to fly, but it better carry a huge lump of liability insurance.

Default Hypocritical Communists

"The 1,500-square-foot flag was ordered from a Chinese company after an American flagmaker begged off, citing union objections to making the flag. It will be illuminated by spotlights at night."

Nothing says quality like 'Made in China'

I said Americans, Ole. You know, the kind who aren't taught
enough to argue back, except to ask whether or not it is gonna be on the test...

The kind who are taught not to take up class time by being 'too smart', and asking too many questions...

In truth, if it is the STARS AND BARS, in any of its forms, the native Floridians and Virginians WILL KNOW, BUT THEY WON'T TELL THOSE... WHO... ARE...

LEFT!

They will merely salute, and whistle, ever so lightly, to themselves...

While they go off to their 'Laughing Place', deep down inside.

Beowulf

I have since learned that it is the Confederate Battle Flag, so get ready for the Politically Correct to rise up and roar!

It's just a matter of time until it's the lead story on the Natl news. It will be interesting to see if the ACLU steps up to fight for this guy's freedom of speech.
